In this hands on creative art making class, Ms. Stephanie adds in a bit of art history, math, history and even a little science to make this a fun and educational art class! In each of the sections 3 classes we'll look at examples in art history that utilize these principles of art. After an intro identifying the concepts each day we'll use the example artist and art as inspiration for our own exploration into art making as a mindfulness practice. Please note this is a class in which mindfulness plays a significant role. Students will work quietly being guided to notice their breath, sounds around them and even nuances in their facial features as they work. headphones or a quiet space are recommended. Additionally please note your session schedule some sessions for this class are 3 days back to back some are 1 class for 3 weeks.

Week 1: 8x11 or larger white mixed media or watercolor paper watercolor brush small container of water Week 2: 8x11 or larger white mixed media or watercolor paper crayons or oil pastels watercolor Week 3: 8x11 or larger card stock or mixed media paper 1 color fine point marker & broad tip marker (ex. 1 black fine point, 1 black broad tip marker) *Please note, occasionally I run this class as a camp (particularly during winter break to equip kids with new skills for the 2nd half of the school year) in which case Week 1-3 become DAY 1-3 all occurring in the same week.
