In this 4-Week Series, students will learn about the famous life and works of pop comic artist, Roy Lichtenstein, and create three works inspired by his style! If you have a student who enjoys comics, this class is for them! *Should you miss a week, you can always watch the recording. If you are having trouble viewing it, please let me know! *If the day/time doesn't work for you, you can always purchase the class and watch/pause the replay on your own time! As long as you are registered, I will be available for questions and communications. *Since you are making a series of three, you may want to display them! Dollar Tree has frames in size 8x10 and 8.5x11. Or, you can glue down the works either horizontally or vertically onto a piece of tagboard and then cut to frame. Just a thought! If you plan to do this, be sure your paper is cut to the correct size before class begins! Week 1: We will watch a short video about Roy's life and works, which also has his son being interviewed. I will read to them a short picture book and take a look at some of the classic details that makes his work unique. Then, we will take a look at the attached resource and get an overview of what projects we will be doing over the next few weeks. Then, we will begin creating our sunrise/sunset painting and collage. Week 2: We will finish up our sunset/sunrise piece and get ready to create a self-portrait in his comic style! We will have a little lesson in sketching and comic portraiture, and get our faces in position. If there is time, we will begin adding color! Week 3: We will finish up our portraits by adding color with marker, and finishing up with a "dotted" comic look by adding dots with q-tips. These always turn out so great! We can't forget to add a little dialogue bubble too! Week 4: Finally, we will revisit the picture book from week one and recreate one of his still life's. They are not as well known as his people, onomatopoeias, or sun pieces, but I think they are great and worth giving attention to! They will be simple and created with oil pastel or colored pencil (student choice). Now, enjoy your Roy Lichtenstein art!

Orientación para padres
Roy Lichtenstein does have more "risque" works that we will not be covering during this class. Independent google searches of his paintings are not recommended without parental guidance.
