Art History for Kids Create a work of art inspired by a famous artist! In this ongoing class, learners will be introduced to a different artist each week. To start class, we will learn and have a discussion about the artist and their work. This will be done largely though a slide show while asking students about what they see. During this portion, each learner is given an opportunity to talk. Then, we will spend the majority of the class creating art of our own! Some weeks, the students will be led in a directed drawing and asked to add creativity to their work wherever they see fit. Once and a while, students will be provided a prompt based off of that week's artist. In the last 5-10 minutes of class, each learner will share their work with the class. There are over 100 artists planned for this course, so learners will have over 2 years in this class before projects repeat. The following is a week by week breakdown of the artist and art medium covered in upcoming classes: 1/15 Takashi Murakami drawing 1/22 Judith Leyster drawing 1/29 Edward Hopper paper collage 2/5 Jim Dine painting 2/12 Lorna Simpson painting and paper collage 2/19 Henri Matisse paper collage 2/26 Chuck Close drawing 3/4 Robert Indiana watercolor painting 3/11 Faith Ringgold paper collage and drawing 3/18 Jacques-Louis David painting 3/25 Salvador Dali M drawing 4/1 Berthe Morisot painting 4/8 Paul Cummins paper sculptures 4/15 Edmonia Lewis clay sculptures 4/22 Luo Zhongli painting on black paper 4/29 Gustav Klimt drawing 5/6 Judy Chicago drawing 5/13 Michelangelo drawing 5/20 Pacita Abad mixed media collage 5/27 Jackson Pollock watercolor painting Artists for June will be updated the end of May.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
The two things I love most in life is art and teaching! I have a degree in art education and have lots of experience working with young students. I think that basic understanding of art techniques and theories are important things that students should learn to not only further their art skills but also to see the beauty in the world around them!
