Imagine an art lesson that combines the thoughtfulness of Mr. Rogers and the creative playfulness of a tutorial with Bob Ross. In Art Club, we don't just learn painting and drawing techniques; we build friendships and explore how art can help us regulate our emotions and learn more about the world around us. 

Each class begins with a time to "check in": students are encouraged to share something that they have created recently or something that they are excited about! Then we will spend a couple minutes on a warm up and/or introducing the topic of the day.

Then it is time to create a work of art! Topics include but are not limited to: music and abstract art, regulating emotions, nature, current events, drawing and watercolor techniques, artists from around the world, and more.

Finally, we will spend a few minutes at the end of class for students to share their work and reflect on the lesson.

I will guide students through the art-making process, noting different techniques as we use them and giving cues for where students can build upon those techniques or branch out on their own if they wish to. To quote the esteemed Bob Ross, "in art there are no mistakes, just happy accidents!"
