How do historians and archaeologists learn about civilizations without any written records that they can understand? Either in societies that did not develop writing systems or in societies with writing systems that historians can't yet understand- it can seem difficult to learn about these cultures in a meaningful way. - Students will be able to analyze artifacts from various civilizations and infer what these artifacts say about their creators' lifestyles and cultures.
I have taught world history classes in New Jersey public schools for several years at the middle school and high school levels, exploring various cultures from the first humans to the modern day.
Some artifacts feature classical art with nudity and ancient burial sites with human remains as well as some references to ancient rituals involving human sacrifice.
