• Read and analyze characterization, plot and allegorical qualities of George Orwell's classic novel, Animal Farm
• Understand the political roots of Orwell's work, including terms such as Capitalism, Communism and Socialism as it relates to the novel.
• Analyze the intent and effect of propaganda posters on the human psyche.

I have taught Animal Farm to high school Sophomores for 5 years, usually as a primer for MAUS. While I do not endorse any particular political ideology, students will be able to understand the differences between Capitalism, Socialism and Communism as part of our study of the book, in addition to examining the types of leadership in the novel.
