***During the summer and for holiday breaks this class is held as a “Summer/Winter Camp” where is it held for 4 consecutive days and during the school year, it’s held as a short semester camp/multi-day class happening over 4 weeks.*** Join us for this 4-day adventure, campers will uncover Ancient Civilizations as we explore some of the most famous and influential societies of early history. Campers will have the opportunity to record their discoveries using their interactive-notebook. Each day campers will discover the history and people of each civilization, as well as the contributions they made to the world which still impacts us today. Each civilization will have a specific S.T.E.A.M. Challenge (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts,000000 and Mathematics) based on what the students discovered in class. Campers with go back in time to create a hands-on project just like Hammurabi, Pharaoh Khufu, Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Montezuma, and others. Class Time: 50-minute lesson 5-minute break (if needed/ gather S.T.E.A.M. materials) 30-minute Group S.T.E.A.M. Challenge Our Journey Begins in: Day 1: MESOPOTAMIA- • Geographic Stetting: Land Between Two Rivers • Empires: Mesopotamians, Sumerians, Babylonians, Assyrians & The First Cities • Inventions: Cuneiform • Legacy: Temples(ziggurats), Hammurabi’s Code, The Ishtar Gate, & The Hanging Gardens • S.T.E.A.M. Challenge: Clay Cuneiform Coding Day 2: EGYPT- • Geographic Stetting: The Course of the Nile River • Dynasties: Kings & Pharaohs • Inventions: Mummification, Hieroglyphics, & Papyrus • Legacy: The Pyramids of Giza • S.T.E.A.M. Challenge: Pyramid Building Day 3: GREECE & ROME- • Geographic Stetting: The Mediterranean Land & Sea • Empires: From Civilizations to Republics • Inventions: Parthenon, Roman Aqueduct, Colosseum • Legacy: Philosophy, • S.T.E.A.M. Challenge: Chariot Build & Speed Challenge Day 4: AMERICAS • Geographic Stetting: The Americas • Empires: Mayans, Aztecs, and the Incas • Inventions: Textiles and Chinampas • Legacy: Mayan Glyphs, Aztec Pyramid’s, & Machu Picchu • S.T.E.A.M. Challenge: Floating Gardens I will facilitate learning by providing knowledgeable stimulation through PowerPoint presentations, primary sources, example props, asking questions, providing ethical and respectful options, and resources for further student inquiry. I will foster interactions between the student and content, other students, and myself.

Parents, please be advised students will need to use scissors to prepare the notebook. Scissors are an important tool to master but should be used with caution. Please ensure your learner knows how to be safe with scissors. If they are not comfortable doing so, please be ready to help them off camera and/or prepare before class.

I am a Pennsylvania certified Social Studies teacher and I taught 6th and 7th grade Social Studies/World History. I also was a preschool teacher where I taught many subjects including history and science. I have been teaching different subjects for 10 years. I have a bachelor's degree in Social Sciences-Education from the Pennsylvania State University. This is where I took multiple researched-based classes and coursework in American History, European History, World History, Cultural Geography, and World Regional Geography.
