During this one-time class, students will learn how to study Aesop's fables. We will discuss what a fable is, read fables together, and answer wh- questions (who, what, where) to check for understanding. Then we will examine the fable's lesson and re-write it in our own words. Finally, we will write our own ending to a fable with a relevant lesson. As the teacher, I will guide the students to make "smart guesses'' about the fable using context clues and vocabulary clues. No prior experience is needed for students to participate in class.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will leave class with a deeper knowledge of Aesop's fables, practice with reading comprehension and inferencing, and analysis of how the lessons can be applied to their lives.
