1 hora por semana. Each week, the student will be asked to complete a portion of the pattern outside of the class's designated time. The length of time that this will take depends on the crochet speed of the learner. During the class, we will work on starting the different portions of the project. The students will then work independently during the week to complete the indicated portion of the project. The entire project will NOT be completed during JUST the class time. The teacher is available during the week to answer any questions that the students may have.

Experiencia de clase

If your student is interested in learning that art of amigurumi crochet, this course will provide the basics of crocheting in the round! Your student will learn all the skills necessary to make a small taco keychain. Each week is broken down into the different steps that are needed to create the taco.

**Students should know the single crochet stitch.**

**Please see the homework section!**

Week One: This first week will be somewhat informational, but it is essential that the students are given time to ask any questions that they may have about the required materials. We will go over all of the supplies that are needed to crochet a taco and learn the magic circle and/or the chain-2 method. We will start the rounds for our taco shell by increasing the amount of stitches in each row. **A stitch marker, hook, and yarn will be needed.**

Week Two: We will start the meat of our taco by using the single crochet stitch. We will learn how to increase our rounds to make the circle bigger. This is very similar to week one so if the students have any questions, we can go over them in greater detail. **A stitch marker, yarn, and hook will be needed.**

Week Three: We will sew the shell and meat together by placing the "wrong" sides together. Then, we will give our taco a face! The student can choose to stitch on eyes or use safety eyes. **Please see the Parental Guidance Section.** **A tapestry needle, yarn, and safety eyes (optional) will be needed.**

Week Four: We will add toppings to our taco and add the keychain! We will fold the circles (shell/meat) over and use green yarn to sew it together. The green yarn acts as the lettuce! If your student wants to add more toppings like tomatoes or onions, all they have to do is have yarn with those colors. Get creative! We will then add the keychain to our taco! **A tapestry needle and keychain (optional) will be needed.**

Please reach out to me if you have any questions regarding this course and I would be happy to help!

Happy Crocheting!

Orientación para padres
Students WILL need to use scissors and tapestry needles in this class. **Please note that the you will continue to work on the same project each week, so keep it stored in a safe place when you are not working on it.** **Safety eyes are only suitable for children aged 3 years and older. Please be aware of this in case there are younger siblings in the house. Safety eyes are completely optional as the amigurumi's eyes, nose, and mouth can be stitched on with a tapestry needle.** **If your student misses one of the weeks, the video of the class will be available for him/her to watch. A 50% refund for that particular lesson will be given if I am made aware before the class time.**
Lista de útiles escolares
Four colors for yarn: taco shell, meat, lettuce, mouth. I recommend yarns like Red Heart Super Saver, Caron One Pound, or Big Twist.

Crochet Hook (It's best to have a variety of smaller sizes to do amigurumi crochet. I suggest a 2, 2.5, or 3MM crochet hook.)

Scissors

Tapestry Needle: they come in a variety of sizes. Just be sure that your yarn can go through the eye of the needle.

Stitch Markers: Extra strips of yarn or bobby pins work fine if you do not have these.

Safety Eyes (Optional)

Keychain (Optional): Yarn can also be used instead of the metal keychain.

A PDF file of this pattern will be posted to the classroom after the first class.

I learned to crochet in my middle school home economics class and I've been "hooked" ever since. *pun intended* :D I just did the math and that means that I have been crocheting for 20 years now. Wow!

Crochet is a wonderful hobby to make something creative but also useful. I have made many items such as washcloths, shawls, scarves, stuffed toys, and blankets. Over the years, I have learned that blankets are my absolute favorite item to make. There is a crocheted blanket on every bed in my home...and on every sofa...and some are stored...

I am the type of person that can not just sit and not have my hands be busy. Crochet is the perfect hobby to do while watching your favorite show for the 346th time. My hope for the crochet classes is to spark that love of crochet for every student that comes into the classroom.
