I will assess students through questioning and observation in order to adapt instruction. I will also give the students the chance to report a fact they learned so I can assist them with further information if needed.Experiencia de clase

This class is part of a series of patriotic classes exploring American Symbols. Students will discover the history of the Washington Monument. The class will begin with a patriotic song, and learners will view photos and learn history through a PowerPoint slideshow. I will use questioning techniques and discussion as students interact with each other and with me. Following the PowerPoint, I will teach students American Sign Language for class vocabulary. Students will create a watercolor (and black Sharpie) art project. They will draw, write, or tell one fact they learned. This class will be informative, engaging, and supportive in a joyful, non-partisan environment. Cameras will need to remain on throughout the class to facilitate interaction with each other and with me, and to allow me to assist in the students' sign language acquisition.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Maestría en Educación desde University of Minnesota
My excitement about American symbols began with travels to Washington, DC. I loved stepping onto the exact spot Martin Luther King Jr. stood for his iconic I Have a Dream speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Walking through the White House thrilled me as I imagined the historic individuals who had walked its halls. I have enthusiastically taught many students about Washington, DC through books, music, and plays. I love sharing American symbols with Outschool students!
I am a licensed and experienced teacher for elementary students and for Pre-K through Grade 12 deaf/hard-of-hearing students. Additionally, I worked as an educational interpreter for several years.
