In this ongoing course, students will explore adult and baby animals in their habitats and learn amazing animal facts. We will cover basic information regarding animal classification, habitats, diet, and their roles in their ecosystems. We will also introduce some amazing and fun facts for each animal. Class meetings will be a mix of a brief introduction before moving into an activity to reinforce facts about the animal of the week. Students will learn through creating lapbooks, art, maps, and discussion. We will travel from our own backyards all the way around the world to check out animals that live in various countries. Students will learn about the animals and biomes while being able to visually see where in the world they live. I strongly believe that children learn best when they get to be involved in the process. This course is learner directed and I am happy to take suggestions on animals that students are interested in learning more about. Students will need the following supplies for class: 1. Their favorite art supplies (pens, markers, etc.) 2. Glue sticks 3. A journal for sketching Any other supplies for specific class periods for projects that enrolled students suggest will be posted in the classroom at least a week prior to needing them. Content will be presented via Nearpod. I will screen share so that parents and students do not need to create a separate account.
