What does everyone need in order to live? Food, water, shelter...and air! But what is air exactly? We can't see it or grab it in our hands, yet we know it's there. But what else do we know about it? In this class we will perform several experiments in order to understand exactly what air is. We'll learn that it has mass (takes up space), has weight, and moves. In total we will do five different experiments and it will be important to have all the materials ready for class. Some of the experiments will need parental assistance. See the materials list to discover what you'll need for each experiment.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn that air is matter and has mass, weight, and moves.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Washington Certificado de Docencia en Artes del lenguaje inglés
Hi! I’m Alayna, a University of Washington alum, certificated teacher, and local author. Before having my two adorable munchkins, I taught in the public-school system for almost 6 years, and now enjoy guiding my children on their learning adventures. Since kids learn in many different ways, I love to utilize a variety of strategies such as think-pair-share, class discussions, games, and crafts. But above all I believe strongly that learning should be fun for as George Dorsey said, “Play is the beginning of knowledge.”
