Álgebra 1 | ¡Boom! ¡Lo he clavado!

Your learners will never question himself again on these building blocks of linear equations and graphs because in this camp, we teach ever learner to master! Your learners will be able to answer: what is the slope, the intercept, an ordered pair, a positive vs a negative slope, the 5 different forms of a linear equation, independence and dependence, how to study an equation and match it up with one of the 5 forms of equations, how to spot an equation from a graph and vice-versa. How to read rise over run.

In this one week, 2-times-a-week class, learners will master and internalize the core of linear equations-- how to plot them, how to write and equation by looking at a graph, how to articulate a conversation about the graph and line using precise math terminology, and how to "think" in terms of linear plots even to be able to define stories around salemen's commission, cost trade-offs of one product vs another,
Here is how the course is laid out. Each lesson is chock full of deep dive into necessary knowledge.

Day 1:
Basics of a standard linear equations including variable, constant, coefficient, dependent and independent variables, origin, coordinate plane, x-axis and y-axis, slope, rise over run, x intercept, y intercept,

Day 2:
5 forms of linear equations, standard form, slope-intercept, point slope, how to look at a linear equation, identify what form it is in, and how to identify key parts (slope, intercept), Graphing Linear equations - Taking all the key parts and applying it to linear graphs. Being able to articulate using key terms like vertical and horizontal slopes, shallow and steep slopes. Using the A, B, and C of the standard linear equation to calculate slope and intercepts, converting between the different forms of a linear equation.

Once your learners has mastered the concepts in this mini-camp, they are ready for level 2 in my 5 part series to having your learners ace their Algebra 1 linear Algebra exams!

Here is an explanation of these levels and how to know where your learner should begin:

I want to share with you my experience in teaching math and SAT Prep. I've been teaching math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 100 and 300 points as a result of my tutoring.

My secret to getting these results is making sure that the students truly understand the underlying concepts when practicing their problems.

I want to do the same for your student.
Thanks for having your learner study with me. I can't wait to see him/her in class!
Metas de aprendizaje
At the end of this class, your student will be able to say, "I get how to plot a line, how to identify a linear equation from a graph, and I can use all the needed terminology to articulate these concepts to others."

I've been certified in the public schools for teaching math in middle and high schools. I received additional certified training for gifted and talented learners. I taught math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 100 and 300 points. As a chemical engineer and project management professional in the world of business consulting and information technology consulting, I've completed over five levels of college calculus and applied mathematics and used these math and computing skills throughout my career.

The students I have taught had varying learning abilities that ranged from one with pronounced learning disabilities to gifted and talented. When it came to PSAT's and SAT's, each of them with impressive improvements in their scores.

It can be done! I used a focused approach. We honed in on trouble areas, really understood the underlying math concept, and drilled for mastery.
