This one time class examines Soviet spy Ursula Kuczynski and her role as a GRU spy before and during World War II. Her operations extended from Shanghai to the United Kingdom, and included a lot of famous personalities. One of her operations landed assassins in Germany. Another operation furnished underground communist movements with military supplies. She was tracked by MI5 and MI6, and pursued by Gestapo and Kempeitai agents. This class is a lecture-based course. The instructor will be lecturing alongside a PowerPoint presentation. Slides on the PowerPoint may include maps, photographs of relevant persons, events or locations, and statistical information. Students are encouraged to ask questions, give comments, or discuss important themes anytime during the lecture. Themes examined may include war, period politics, the mindset and political ideas of spies, and government and political structures. Attendance policy: Leaners are required to be present and on camera for the duration of class. This is to ensure learner safety and participation. If a learner is running late, the instructor will wait for 10 minutes after class has started for the learner to arrive. If the learner does not arrive 10 minutes after class has started, or does not participate on camera, they may be removed from the class without a refund. This class is based on the book "Agent Sonya" by Ben Macintyre.
