In this one-day class, we will learn about adjectives and look at different parts of speech. I will teach the following topics, relating to parts of speech: participle, linking verbs, and predicate adjectives. In addition, I will teach the difference between common, proper, and compound adjectives. The class will be structed as a combination between lecture and discussions.
We will start the class with stating what adjectives are and I will use visual aids to show the differences between the different types of adjectives. A style I use when teaching is using colors and grouping the same concept in colors. For example, when I give the small lecture (less than half the total class time), I will keep each type of adjective in their own colors. Then, when identify adjectives in sentences, I will use the same corresponding color to label those adjectives. I lean toward the demonstration or coach style in classes because I want the class to have a variety of activities, which I demonstrate knowledge about these topics. 
During the small lecture portion, I will ask questions and encourage the learners to take notes. When I show examples of good quality sentences, they will help me label the parts of speech. We will also play some fast-paced activities during this class. However, I don't want to give away the details of the most exciting part of the class! The learners will be encouraged to answer discussion questions, take notes, and participate in the fast-paced games.
