Experiencia de clase

This camp is designed for kids with a range of disabilities who may enjoy activities that are typically considered to be for younger children. As an autistic adult myself I often felt distanced from my peers because I didn't always enjoy the same things they did and liked things that they often considered "babyish". I know that many kids today are going through this same this, some far more extremely than I did and I want to give them a place where they can interact with others like them and talk about and do things they love without fear of judgment.

This camp is designed to be a chance for students to socialize with other students, as such the class will be largely student lead and the conversations will vary based on learner interests.

I will guide the conversation and provide topics and games if the children need help keeping the conversation fun and interesting. Because I feel it is most beneficial when social classes are as student lead as possible it is not practical to give a day-by-day break down for this camp as each group will look slightly different, however, each day we will begin with a hello song, I will be teaching the students hand movements to go along with the song, we will then have a discussion question for each student to answer, have time to do fun action songs, and play a game.

Topics that may be brought up if topics are needed include:
Pets
Hobbies
Video games
Where is your favorite place to go?
Favorite books or TV shows
Do you have any siblings?

Games may include:
Simon Says
Dance like me! (students take turns making up a dance move and everyone copies it)
Animal charades
Freeze dance

All of my classes are inclusive which means students of all abilities are welcome if your student needs any accommodation please let me know and we will work together to ensure the best possible class experience.
