1-2 horas por semana. Students will need to spend some time creating costumes, props, set pieces and/or recording sound outside of class. How long this takes and how much learners put into it will be a personal decision on their part.Experiencia de clase
In this class, students will have the opportunity to create their own short play. We will begin by developing characters and a story with input from all students. Students will then be able to create costumes, find props, sounds, and create a backdrop for their portion of the play. All learners will be working together and have individual responsibilities as well. This class will be driven by student ideas and I will be a moderator and coach. The class times will be our touchstone and where the bulk of our work takes place, however, discussions and collaboration can continue between class times, if students are so inclined. Day 1: Focus on character and dialogue. Day 2: Focus on costume and props with continued character and scene work. Day 3: Focus on set and sound with continued costume, prop, character and scene work. Day 4: Putting it all together and a final performance.

There is a chance that students may be placed into breakout rooms to work in pairs or small groups, throughout the week. Students will still be expected to conduct themselves appropriately in such situations.

When attending class, students should wear clothes that are comfortable to move in and may also choose to have a bottle of water handy. They should also have paper and pen/pencils. Learners will be developing costumes, finding props, creating sound effects and making a backdrop or other set pieces. They should be able to do these things with items found around the house. These items may include boxes, paint, crayons, markers, glue, stapler, fabric and various existing objects and pieces of clothing. If students have the know-how and prefer to use digital props and backgrounds this is perfectly fine as well. They may use a cellphone, iPod, or other devise for recording and playing sound effects.

I love teaching all levels and abilities. I have worked with children in various settings, including home school, charter school, camp, after-school clubs, and a performing arts center. I will be offering classes for a range of ages including Drama Book Club, Creating Characters, Devised Drama: Online Edition, and more. I have earned an Associate's Degree in General Studies, a 90-HR Certificate in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre and a Master's Degree in Education with a focus on Inclusive Classrooms. I am currently teaching ESL online. I have worked, in various capacities, in academic, community and regional theatre for more than 20 years. For over a decade, I have been a contributing artist to one of the longest running professional women's theatres in the world. There I have had the opportunity to be a part of the creation of many world premiere works that empower women. The drama classroom gives students an opportunity to be creative, to explore themselves and the world they live in, and to make connections with others. It is a place where struggling students can shine, gifted students can explore new challenges and disengaged students can find a tie. I believe that learning should be enjoyable for students and teachers!
