Teacher Kate (she/her): Kate is an accomplished filmmaker and passionate bookworm. She has taught learners between the ages of 2 and 15 abroad in both Germany and Japan. Kate has a wide foundation of teaching experience from teaching middle schoolers to teaching English as a second language in Tokyo. She varies her teaching style to meet learners where they are and modulates her approach to suit all neurotypes. She brings a sense of calm to the classroom that provides an ideal environment for learners to thrive. Her teaching style is clear, passionate, and supportive. Julie-Anna (she/her) was a homeschooled learner, now turned homeschool mom. In addition to her role as a homeschool educator, she has taught piano and yoga for years. She has experience working with children between the ages of 3 and 18 years of age, as well as a variety of neurotypes. She has worked as a ghost writer, copy-editor, and proofreader. Additionally, Julie-Anna holds a B.A. and a Level-5 TEFL certification. Julie-Anna loves teaching creative writing because of her own love for the written word. Books were her first and lasting love and she never leaves home without a book, a journal, and a beautiful fountain pen. Some of her favorite authors are C.S. Lewis, Jane Austen, and Charles Dickens. Hannah (she/they) With a healthy amount of life experience and a passion for helping others succeed, Hannah is a UNT graduate with a triple focus in English, Japanese, and Government who has learned the meaning of persistence! A standardized testing natural and English whiz, she spent a year with Austin ISD teaching the English portion of the STAAR exam to ESL students. She also took responsibility for a weekly after school art class with the same students. Along the way, she's worn many hats - retail, restaurants, hospitality, clerical work, and deliveries. Currently, along with SAT and ACT test tutoring, she is an artist, writer, and all-around nerd, and she currently seeks to expand her private illustration business alongside her performing career. In her spare time, she plays video games, draws her own comics, sews her own clothes, and raids her local public library. She does improv comedy and is teaching herself how to play the ukulele and the melodica. Fluent in Japanese, Hannah spent months traveling through Japan. "Ask me, and I've probably done it!" Sydney (she/her) is a long-time writer and artist, and has loved reading almost since she was able to read, especially fiction. Shortly after graduating with a bachelor's degree in Psychology she got a job tutoring Kindergarten and First grade in English where she tailored her sessions to students' individual learning needs. Building skills from phonics to reading, she is passionate about helping students love to read just as much as she does. When not reading or writing, she loves to dabble in all types of crafts, from sculpting and embroidery to digital art. Judith (she/her) is a seasoned educator with 30 years of classroom and online teaching experience. Her expertise spans multiple subjects, including Mathematics, Geography, and History (American, Ancient, and World History), focusing on details of World Wars—advanced placement and honors classes. Judith holds a TEFL and TESOL certification and several school licenses, demonstrating her comprehensive qualifications in language education. She has developed a reputation for effective test-taking strategies and thorough test preparation methods for high school and college exams. Her specialized knowledge extends to preparing students for standardized tests. Beyond her classroom work, Judith has honed her skills in grant writing, further broadening her educational impact. Her diverse skill set and decades of experience make her a valuable resource for students seeking to advance their language mastery and scholarly accomplishments. Judith's dedication to education and ability to adapt to traditional and online learning environments have made her a respected figure in the teaching community. Tiffany (she/her) brings to our Hub of Curiosity classrooms an incredible and varied background in education. Before joining us, she led ESL classes aboard an Around-the-World NGO cruise and taught upper-low income students in the USA, Tiffany blends creativity with intellectually stimulating journeys in her teaching style. Her open neurodivergent outlook on life and education, as a whole, empowers her to foster connections with students from diverse backgrounds and tailor lessons to each individual need. Tiffany has a B.A. in English with a concentration in Grammar/Linguistics, is certified in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and is a certified TESOL/TEFL teacher. Jessica (she/her )has worked in the field of education for the last 8 years where she has taught English immersion online and worked in elementary schools. She has been a library media assistant and a STEAM coach at an elementary school for the past three years. Two positions that are perfect for her because she loves reading, science and art. She has a B.S. in biology and worked in that field for thirteen years with dolphins, sea turtles and fish, but mostly fish. Jessica has a TESOL certificate. She has experience working with students 4 to 13 years old and has taught all neurotypes. She is neurodivergent.
