Grado de EE. UU. 9
In this course students will learn the concepts of Health and Fitness and how to be healthy individuals. This course is focuses on lifetime health and fitness and learning how to be preventive rather than reactive. When planning my lessons I use the National Standards for Health & P.E. This course covers all the material that is taught in the 9th grade Health/P.E. and is what I use in my in person classes I teach. Class Structure: Each unit will contain a few chapters. Your child will work through the unit available at their own pace. All new content will be uploaded on Sundays Eastern Daylight Time. We will rotate between Health & P.E. content bi-weekly. This means we will have Health content for 2 weeks and then Physical Education content for 2 weeks. A report card will be provided at the end of the class as well as progress reports every 5 weeks. In each module there will be information for each chapter in that unit. The information will be in the form of teaching videos and PowerPoints. Students will be expected to complete the classwork within each unit. Students can request a meeting with me at any time during the semester. In order to do this the student will need to email me requesting a meeting. Student can also look for an optional zoom meeting where students will be able to ask me questions, get help, or help each other. At the end of the course students will receive a report card with all assignments, grades, and a final grade. Assignments: ~ Health Portfolio- students will be developing a health portfolio that will contain multiple assignments that students can look back on and use later in life. ~Weekly fitness logs- each week students will be expected to submit a weekly log of their fitness activities. ~Quizzes- There will be a quiz that goes with each sport unit. ~Tests- There will be a test that goes with each unit. *Other assignments vary by unit Materials: ~Google Drive- all content can be found in google drive. ~Google documents- students may need to write in google docs and uploaded ~Google Forms- some of the quizzes will be done using google forms ~Google Slides- slides will be used to provide information Topics Covered in this course: Health - Unit 1 Mental Health - Unit 2 Social Health - Unit 3 Nutrition - Unit 4 Physical Fitness - Unit 5 Substance Abuse - Unit 6 Preventing Disease Physical Fitness: As a class we will vote on what forms of activity the class is most interested in and go from there.
