Grado de EE. UU. 5
This is an ongoing course which provides introduction, access and exposure to all of the 5th Grade ELA standards. Students will gain a solid foundation of all the skills and strategies needed to master 5th grade ELA standards. This is a great opportunity for learners entering 5th grade who want an early introduction to the upcoming ELA skills, or as a refresher for students entering 6th grade. This course could also be taken by advanced 4th grade students who would enjoy enrichment.

This course will be taught using a variety of methods. I will introduce each topic explicitly through a minilesson, providing many opportunities for students to practice the necessary skill(s). Learners will work independently, but also have opportunities to work in partners or as a group to complete engaging activities.

Course Outline: I will introduce 1-2 standards every week in isolation. This may be helpful when supplementing your learner's curriculum or to dive deeper into standards where mastery has not been met. These standards follow the Common Core State Standards, as well as many states that may no longer use CCSS, but have similar state standards.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
My name is Ms. Parrotta and I'm so glad that you're here! I am a 5th grade teacher in a Gifted Magnet school and love all the learners I get to meet. I hold a BA in Child Study with teaching certifications in grades Birth-6, General and Special Education. I also have a MSEd. in Literacy with a certification in grades B-6, and certification in Gifted Education. I have been teaching full time along with privately tutoring for over 8 years.

One of my philosophies of education is having a student-centered classroom. In my classroom, students take part in personalized learning which allows them to (in some form) work at a pace that suits them as well as complete assignments that may be different than their peers. This means that as a teacher, I am able to differentiate instruction regularly to meet students where they are.

My Outschool classes are going to consist of engaging book clubs where learners can apply higher level thinking skills and participate in lively discussions. I’m also very excited to offer classes in core academic subjects and skills, as well as fun business classes for young entrepreneurs!

I'm grateful that a space like this exists, for both teachers and learners from all over the world to connect!
