1. Times Square, Broadway, and street food. We'll will take the NYC subway to 42nd Street. Let's make our way through Times Square and take in the lights, flashing advertisements, NBC studios entrance (shall we wait in line for Jimmy Fallon?), and Radio City Music Hall. Then we will visit Rockefeller Center and the amazing Lego and Nintendo stores located there. We will see a few mythological figures in this area... can you spot them? All along the way we will be seeing and tasting authentic NYC pizza and comparing them! Plus, we will see how a real New Yorker eats a slice on the go.

2. Central Park. The Park is in bloom! Let's go on a virtual walk around the 'green lungs' of the city. We'll visit the Alice in Wonderland statue- where climbing is encouraged, the Ancient Playground outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, sail model boats on Boat Pond, visit Turtle Pond (sooo many turtles!), and end at Belvedere Castle while learning about the interesting history of the Park.

3. Center of Culture. We will visit Lincoln Center- home of the Metropolitan Opera, NYC Ballet, and the NY Philharmonic. We will take a look at the architecture, the fascinating history, and get a special look at the backstage of the Met Opera. They have a special elevator to lifts sets that is the same as is used on aircraft carriers!

4. Historic New York. Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, and old New York (from Dutch settlers to the Revolutionary War). We will visit the colonial inn where George Washington released his troops after our victory in the American Revolution. We will also learn about the history behind the Statue of Liberty and visit the bull statue outside of the stock exchange. Then we will visit Battery Park and maybe have time for a hot dog. Come on... it's New York!

5. 5 Star New York. Today we will have class from the fabulous Pierre hotel- where I attend many galas throughout the year. We will then head into inside the legendary kitchens of the Pierre and meet the Head Chef, Ashfer Biju. He will give us a cooking lesson on a few of the Pierre's most historic dishes that you can definitely make at home. Yummm!

Orientación para padres
I will be speaking live to the students as well as using a wide variety of slides from my travels around the world. I welcome questions before, during, and after the class. A class that interacts with the material learns it at a deeper level and I welcome questions at any time during the class. Each class will begin with a main question or idea for the students to keep in mind, as they will see the theme reappear. The classes will all end with guided discussion based upon the main question and any interesting questions or comments. This will not be ‘dead air’ time, students will be encouraged to share their thoughts and questions. All photographs are my own.
