Welcome Outschool Students & Families! In our reoccurring & engaging 4th-grade class, students will be introduced to a years worth of math curriculum! Whether your student is entering into the 4th grade or has completed the grade and needs a refresher on various mathematical concepts - this class is perfect! Our class provides students with an immersive experience, as we use multiple learning differentiations to ensure all abilities are met! Math should be embraced by students and teachers with excitement, versus anxiety and fear. Our class brings forth the joy of what math can be through the use of various techniques. Remember, not every child learns in the same manner! Whether your student is homeschooled or attends traditional school, what makes our class different is the use of online platforms. We utilize technological advances in two forms: Nearpod & Genially Learning. 📚 Our Class Experience 📚 Each meeting, the teacher will cover the math concept for that day through a 'mini lesson' for students to follow along. All lessons covered will be presented on Nearpod, in which students will be given a link with a pin code. If for any reason a student cannot utilize Nearpod, have no fear, students are able to use the pencil/paper or whiteboard/marker method! I use the word "presentation" loosely as Nearpod is a more gamified way for students to interact within the lesson. Providing students with a gamified experience enhances their engagement and interaction! Outside of each live meeting, at the start of each week, students will be given the outline of which math concepts will be taught; along with worksheets to complete. Of course, students will complete said worksheets outside of class time to enhance the concepts learned for that specific day! ❓What is Nearpod?❓ 🔗 Nearpod is a website in which the teacher will utilize for our mini lesson of the day! Not only is Nearpod used for a means of teaching our lesson, but students have the ability to use it for practicing the learned material. Nearpod is a free website that can be used on with the mobile app or computer! All students will need is to enter the PIN code provided by the teacher each day we meet. :) ❓What is Genially?❓ 🔗 Genially is another gamified method used for learning! After class, students will be given a link that takes you on a fun and gamified experience of learning. Each lesson or topic covered in class, students will be able to play games to enhance their comprehension of the learned material. Students are able to play the games as many times as they would like! Genially is free website, no need for a log in or pin code. The link provided by the teacher directs to our gaming experience! 🌻 Method of Teaching & Learning Abilities 🌻 Beyond the use of technology, the teaching style I have is student centered, this way instruction will be based on how well the students are taking in the information. My goal is to guide students, and to ensure they feel comfortable on their journey of learning mathematical concepts! As their teacher, I am able to reach all learning types: Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, and Kinaesthetic. ------------ 📆 WEELY SCHEDULE 📆 ------------ ⭐️ Section 1: Place Value Concepts Aug. 26th - 29th: Place Value Sept. 3rd - 5th: Compare Numbers/Size Sept. 9th - 12th: Rounding ⭐️ Section 2: Add & Subtract Multi-Digit Numbers Sept. 16th - 19th: Addition Sept. 23rd - 26th: Subtraction ⭐️ Section 3: Multiply by One-Digit Numbers Sept. 30th - Oct. 3rd: Multiples & Factors Oct. 7th - 10th: Multiplication as a Comparison ⭐️ Section 4: Multiply by Two-Digit Numbers Oct. 14th - 17th: Multiply 3 & 4 Digit Numbers Oct. 21st - 24th: Multiplying 2 Digit By 2 Digit Numbers ⭐️ Section 5: Divide Multi-Digit Numbers by One-Digit Numbers Oct. 28th - 31st: Introducing Division Nov. 4th - 7th: Relating Division Nov. 12th - 14th: Dividing 2 Digit Numbers Nov. 18th - 22nd: Dividing 3 Digit Numbers Dec. 2nd - 5th: Dividing 4 Digit Numbers ⭐️ Section 6: Factors, Multiples, and Patterns Dec. 9th - 12th: Factors and Divisability Dec. 16th - 20th: Identify Prime and Composite Numbers ⭐️ Section 7: Understand Fraction Equivalence and Comparison Jan. 13th - 16th: Concept of Fractions Jan. 20th - 23rd: Fractions Greater Than 1 Jan. 27th - 30th: Equivalent Fractions Feb. 3rd - 6th: Comparing Fractions ⭐️ Section 8: Add and Subtract Fractions Feb. 10th - 13th: Adding & Subtracting Fractions ⭐️ Section 9: Multiply Whole Numbers and Fractions Feb. 17th - 20th: Multiplying Fractions Feb. 24th - 27th: Multiplying Fractions (Cont'd) ⭐️ Section 10: Relate Fractions and Decimals Mar. 3rd - 6th: Introducing Decimals Mar. 10th - 13th: Developing Number Sense Decimals Mar. 17th - 20th: Comparing & Ordering Decimals Mar. 24th - 27th: Decimal Problem Solving ⭐️ Section 11: Understand Measurement Mar. 31st - Apr. 3rd: Length in Metric Units Apr. 7th - 10th: Mass & Capacity in Metric Units Apr. 14th - 17th: Length & Weight in Customary Units ⭐️ Section 12: Identify and Draw Lines and Angles Apr. 21st - 24th: Points, Lines, and Rays Apr. 28th - May 1st: Identify and Draw Angles May 5th - 8th: Measure and Draw Angles ⭐️ Section 13: Identify Symmetry and Two-Dimensional Shapes May 12th - 15th: Classify Triangles by Sides May 19th - 22nd: Classify Triangles by Angles May 26th - 29th: Classify Quadrilaterals ----------Holiday/Break Schedule---------- Sept. 2nd: Labor Day Nov. 11th: Veterans Day Nov. 25th - 29th: Thanksgiving Break Dec. 23rd - Jan. 9th: Winter Break February 17th: Presidents Day Mar. 31st - Apr.4th: Spring Break May 26th: Memorial Day
