ATTENTION! Alfred's Basic Piano Course Lesson Book Level 1A (Alfred's Basic Piano Library) will need to be printed, bought or be accessible from another tablet device other than the one being used for Zoom, ie iPad, Android tablet, etc. The book can also be purchased for about 10 dollars US. It makes it difficult for us to juggle audio examples, me talking, them playing, seeing my hands, their little hands and then also screen sharing a book on a horizontal rectangular screen that makes the book small and hard to see. Thanks so much! What will be taught? Hand position, Sitting posture, Reading music, Songs, Music Theory, Chords, Scales and improvisation, and music etiquette as a musician. Most of all how fun music can be! What topics will you cover? Music theory that pertains to piano performance and how to play piano How is your class structured? We will meet for 25 minutes each week, go over material pertaining to the current topic in the lesson and then review the material to be studied to prepare for the next lesson How will you teach? I teach in a style in which I model what is to be done on my digital piano, the student then repeats it, we play together and then I review all topics covered in that lesson at the end. What's your teaching style? I believe if a student shows me they can, or if they can't, I help to figure it out and then we play together to give them the absolute most playtime with another person, as that is one of the most beneficial things in private music lessons. How much will learners get to interact with me? A lot. Constant interactions and feedback on current work. Suggestions, compliments and encouragement are the most beneficial. I never tear my students down Any required experience or knowledge learners need? None is needed. We can start from absolute beginner What can students expect out their piano lessons? How to play piano to a level that reflects their level of commitment and practice. This means if you put the daily practice in then you will see success. If the daily practice doesn't happen that is where the struggle starts to creep in. I am also realistic. 30 minutes daily practice is very realistic and doable. What will be taught each lesson? There will be a monthly regimen of Lesson 1 of 4- Posture, reading and theory Lesson 2 of 4- chord work and soloing Lesson 3 of 4- Songs and how they work Lesson 4 of 4- Performance practice and then we repeat this regimen but advancing in each section each month (or every 4 lessons)
Metas de aprendizaje
First and foremost, how to have fun with piano! I love it and want to share my love of music with them.
In detail though;
Piano keyboard knowledge (how everything works and where all the notes are)
scales (they make you play, read and improvise better)
chords (can't play piano without them very well)
theory (to understand the songs better and to eventually write your own)

Full Windows/Apple desktop/notebook and a separate inexpensive webcam and stand separate from the notebook/desktop is STRONGLY preferred. These days with Zoom music lessons devices go in order from best to worst listed below: Macbook/Mac (I have used both PC and Mac and I know personally that this is the best) Windows 10 PC (Does the job well too, Macs just offer a little more bells and whistles) iPad (latest generation, sound quality is poor do to lack of adjustments) iPhone (last 3 generations, but you can not see screenshares of music because it is too small, sound quality is poor due to lack of adjustments) Chromebook/Android Tablets (They do not have the adjustments to sound quality that the others do and wifi is weak in Chromebooks) Android phone (unacceptable for music lessons, has no sound features, very spotty internet, small screen) This is not to be picky but hey let's face it, there can't be any piano lessons if I can't hear your little one's piano. We can try anything but just a heads up first. BEST OPTION: Real piano that is in tune. Local piano tuners can be googled but just be aware that Grandma's old Spinnet sometimes costs more to fix it then it would to just buy a 88 key weighted digital piano but not as expensive as buying another new piano. If you have one. Fix it and ask the tech how to maintain it. They are super worth having, at least this piano guy thinks so! https://www.freeholdmusic.com/product/yamaha-b3-48-upright-piano/ 2nd BEST OPTION: A weighted (not semi weighted) 88 key digital piano, stand and bench package. Be careful of something called a controller. It has no sounds and requires a computer and software to operate. Digital keyboard or piano should be there in the title. Eventually, not now though it will need a sustain pedal. They can be added to most later for very little money. Please see the bench and stand frequently bought with it as well. https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-Weighted-Digital-Sustain-Amazon-Exclusive/dp/B01LY8OUQW/ref=sxin_14?asc_contentid=amzn1.osa.b8effbb4-553b-4932-9ec2-42692e3507da.ATVPDKIKX0DER.en_US&asc_contenttype=article&ascsubtag=amzn1.osa.b8effbb4-553b-4932-9ec2-42692e3507da.ATVPDKIKX0DER.en_US&creativeASIN=B01LY8OUQW&crid=1ND1OI4VWBCDA&cv_ct_cx=digital+piano+88+key+weighted&cv_ct_id=amzn1.osa.b8effbb4-553b-4932-9ec2-42692e3507da.ATVPDKIKX0DER.en_US&cv_ct_pg=search&cv_ct_we=asin&cv_ct_wn=osp-single-source-earns-comm&dchild=1&keywords=digital+piano+88+key+weighted&linkCode=oas&pd_rd_i=B01LY8OUQW&pd_rd_r=322534d3-827f-41d5-8406-d778d5bc3332&pd_rd_w=tiQU6&pd_rd_wg=mm7Tf&pf_rd_p=8065c57d-81c6-4bce-844a-e686936787b8&pf_rd_r=B08GAF0P1FRR64HK4DF9&qid=1628701711&sprefix=digital+piano+%2Caps%2C217&sr=1-2-64f3a41a-73ca-403a-923c-8152c45485fe&tag=mashcontent-20 3rd Best option (certainly not a bad thing for beginners though!) A touch sensitive keyboard, stand and bench package. Touch sensitivity is a must. If it doesn't say it in the description, it doesn't have it. https://www.amazon.com/Casio-Portable-Keyboard-Instructional-Polishing/dp/B07BN1RVWK/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=Casio+keyboard&qid=1628701668&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzTUw3T0pSTTdVTFhZJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTM0MTgyM1ZDRTkzNEVGRkdTTCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNjE1ODkyM1E1NDlOM0JKOFU4UiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
