Please read this before selecting this class. We use multiple video examples and then we test each concept by quizzing the students using lots of fun games. Students in this age category are not as willing to engage verbally and this model works best and most efficiently to actually teach the concepts in the lesson curriculum. Dear Junior Partner,

As you know, our company, Ralph Products, LP (“Ralph LP”) owns all rights in the cartoon character “Ralph,” which is a short frumpy, eight-year old. Ralph is very popular and many other companies make a lot of money from selling caps and t-shirts with the Ralph cartoon character printed on them. Ralph LP has been making millions by selling licenses to companies allowing the companies to use our ownership rights in the Ralph cartoon character image. We have been contacted by Boss Kid’s Merchandisers, Inc.  Boss Kid’s would like to enter into an agreement with Ralph LP to purchase a license to use the Ralph cartoon character image. We will need to examine some of the business laws that may have an impact on this transaction to determine if we should proceed. I look forward to reviewing this important business matter with you.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This is a (3-Part)  Social Studies, Civics, Law course covering the following topics within the general topic of Business Law. 

- CLASS 1 : TYPES OF BUSINESS ENTITIES
- CLASS 2 : CONTRACTS
- CLASS 3 : INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Students will start a business and learn how to leverage legal knowlege to reduce business risk, money & loss.isk, money & loss.

*** Virtual backgrounds are not allowed as they are a distraction and students use them to get around the requirement that they please not take the class in bed. 

*** We request that the student use a wired internet source plugged into the internet router instead of WIFI – constant blinking of the Internet and students dropping in and out of the class is disruptive. In addition, it is difficult to communicate with the student when the WIFI is intermittently unstable, as it makes it difficult to understand what the student is saying ((It is best if students can test this technology at least 1 day prior to starting the class.))

*** Participation in-person with continuously enabled video/audio each day of the class is mandatory for (all) students. [This is not a video play-back class]. The class is delivered in real time only.

*** Please do not allow the student to attempt to project their video participation in class using an ipad; phone; facetime or other mobile device. 

*** The student (must) use a desktop computer or laptop sitting securely on a desk or table so that the camera is stabilized at all times throughout the class.  Constant movement of the screen or video camera that is used to project the student’s video into the classroom is very disruptive during the class.

***For optimal performance, students should use headphones with a good microphone so that we can communicate efficiently throughout the course. ((It is best if students can test this technology at least 1 day prior to starting the class.))

     -- INCLUGING:
        1) Course Videos
        2) Course Powerpoints (student downloadable copies provided)
        3) Course quizzes (So that the student can participate in anonymous class polling and see other students' answers to the questions, before the initial class, students should navigate to socrative.com and download the app (if the student will be using a smart phone or pad device. If the student will be using the desktop version, the student should be ready to navigate to (KAHOOT.IT) during class.  ((It is best if students can test this technology at least 1 day prior to starting the class.))

I have been teaching college/university and law school students since 2008 in the areas of law, political science/government, and criminal justice. In addition, I have 15 years of law practice. I have first-hand knowledge and expertise in the area of critical reading, analysis and synthesis. I teach students how develop analysis skills that will advance their critical thinking and effective problem-solving abilities.
