Tutoría individual/educación en casa para inglés y matemáticas (de 4 a 11 años)

For this class, we can cover any topic across English and Maths in the UK national curriculum (age 4-11) 

I can also cover phonics and help with early reading and comprehension.

Each English lesson we will begin by doing a reading comprehension, we will take turns reading and answering questions. These can either be from handouts provided from me or from the book in the class resource list. You may also listen to stories read by the teacher, which will be discussed.

During reading, we will read the text together. We will develop pleasure for reading and our understanding of the purpose of texts. We will develop many skills such as asking questions to develop understanding, retrieving and recording information, making inferences and so much more. 

We will then use the remainder of the lesson to focus on writing, grammar, punctuation and spellings. Many topics will be covered over the course. Power Points will be shown when necessary and discussions to develop understanding will take place before we move onto tasks.

For Maths lessons, I will first of all evaluate areas of development for your child, and lessons can be adjusted accordingly. Each lesson will always begin with a warm up starter. We will then move onto the area of development for your child. I teach through the use of demonstrations and PowerPoints, In each lesson I will use the ‘I do, we do, you do’ approach to ensure understanding.

Each week, pupils will be given homework based upon work that has been covered in the lesson. 

Throughout lessons, your child will continually be assessed informally and feedback will be given upon request. Extra work can also be given upon request.

Example structure (based upon a year 4 pupil aged 8 who’s area for development is reading and English):

Week Beginning 07/10/24
Monday: Reading comprehension, follow on by word classes activity, discuss each word class and come up with our own examples. Discuss how these will be used in future lessons. Spellings and homework to be handed out. 

Week Beginning 14/10/24
Monday: Begin with a reading comprehension activity. Re-cap of last lesson and what we remember. Then look at extending sentences using adverbs and phrases. Create sentences using the correct punctuation and completing the activity together. Homework to be given. 

Week Beginning 21/10/24
Monday: Begin with comprehension activity. Then discuss clauses of a sentence. Look at main clause and then subordinate clause. Complete activity. Spellings to be discussed and handed out with the prefix 'in-' (inactive, incomplete, incorrect etc). 

Week Beginning 28/10/24
Monday: Complete comprehension activity together (news article). Discuss features of a newspaper article and plan our own newspaper article. Use of punctuation (punctuating direct speech and apostrophes for both contraction and possession)
