This class requires some writing as well as some viewing of classic horror films. This class is a continuation of part 1. Basically most of the horror, monsters, and films not included in Part 1 are included here.

Week 1: Zombies! We will discuss the origins of the zombie in literature and watch segments from the 1968 film Night of the Living Dead as well as other zombie or zombie related films. We will also discuss zombies of legend and folklore.

Week 2: Monsters of Television! Kolchak: The Night Stalker, Stephen King made for TV movie monsters and other horror films brought to us not on the big screen, but on the television screen. NOTE: This is the week we will talk about the writing assignment and how to write an essay over literature or film.

Week 3: More Hammer Films! Opera anyone? Ghosts, ghouls, and phantoms of film and legend will be discussed. Hammer films of England brought back the Universal monsters in color. In part one of this class, we examined several of Hammer films movie monsters. In this section, we will look at films such as the Phantom of the Opera, and other Hammer versions of horror films.

Week 4: The 80s! Films like A Nightmare on Elm Street, Videodrome, and Dreamscape will be discussed. (NOTE: I will assign the essay and talk about how to write an essay on literature and film as well as citing sources this week if I run out of time on week 2.)

Week 5: More Creature Features! Deadly Piranha, Giant Insects, Aliens, Predators, Spider People, Mutants and Gremlins. We will look at horrible science gone wrong Mary Shelley style! Ahh! the dangers of science and messing with mother nature!

Week 6: Sequels and Prequels plus Hauntings! The Conjuring, The Nun, and other haunted films not shown in part one of this class will be visited during this week. We will also look at classic horror film sequels and prequels from the silver screen. The writing assignment will be due this week.

Week 7: Alfred Hitchcock and Misc. The films of the famous suspense and horror director are highlighted plus a few extra notable horror films to boot!

Week 8: Movies Inspired by the Original Twilight Zone: This class is all about movies inspired by the original Twilight Zone series of the late 50s early 60s. There are more than you might know!

There will be a writing assignment. I will assign the writing assignment early in the class and will will not be due until the 7th week. I will also be giving an accumulative grade for participation, attendance, and homework for parents who need an English or art elective credit.

Orientación para padres
I will be mainly sticking with films of the classic horror era where there is little to no blood and gore on film. Literature will be from the 18th, 19th, and 20th century researching the origins of Gothic literature and horror. We will be seeing clips from some of the more modern horror films. These will include some jump scares etc. I will not put anything in this course that I would be embarrassed to read or watch in front of my 5 and 9 year old grandchildren or any ordained clergy! However, if your learner is prone to nightmares, this may not be the class for them! Caution is advised for learners sensitive to scary, horror based themes and images! PG - 13!
