Tarea
1-2 horas por semana. Students will typically spend some time writing outside of class, but this will vary from student to student and session to session. If a student is seeking help on an essay, they will need to work on that essay, sometimes writing new material and sometimes applying revisions to their work. If a student is seeking support in creative writing, they should have new work to share at the start of a new session so we can discuss and improve their work! I can provide more specific exercises and assignments depending on student needs upon request.Experiencia de clase

NOTE: This is the 60 minute version of this class. If you desire a shorter session, there is also a 30 minute version as well - please see my teacher profile. In this one-on-one class, students will have the opportunity to receive private, personalized writing tutoring in whatever area they may need. Writing is an important skill in so many different aspects of life and often the best way to build that skill is simply through practice and personalized guidance. That is what this class is here for! Whether your student is looking to understand the basics of writing a paper, seeking to improve their essay writing for other classes, in love with creative writing and looking for support in their creative endeavors, or going through the process of applying for college and trying to figure out what to include in their essay, I'm here to help! I can provide guidance in tangible skills like grammar and essay structure and in more abstract skills like brainstorming and the writing process, dependent upon student needs. Each session will start off with a conversation between the student and teacher about their writing needs and goals, and will progress from there. Every session will be different, but they can range from things like brainstorming and writing down ideas, receiving guidance for research, proofreading and editing a paper, receiving instruction in a certain type of writing or grammar concept, etc. In any case, conversation between the student and teacher is essential in private tutoring as we will be problem solving together through the writing process! Given that every student will be different, I would request that you message me upon enrollment to let me know what type of tutoring you are seeking and what your student's needs are! We can then work together to develop a more individualized study plan from there. If none of the above times suit your schedule, feel free to contact me regarding my availability and we may be able to work out a new time from there! I can't wait to get started helping your student improve their writing skills and meet their writing goals!

Beyond this, learning goals will vary from student to student dependent upon what is needed!

We often use Google Drive and Docs to collaborate on writing projects in this class, which requires an account on the website. If for some reason this is not possible, students can message me their writing assignments using other attachments or taking pictures of handwritten work.

I am well-versed in a variety of different kinds of writing, both academic and creative.
With regards to academic writing, my Bachelor's Degree in History and my Master's Degree in Theology were both writing intensive areas of study, requiring researching, revision, brainstorming, refining grammar, style, and structure, and repeatedly going through the many stages of the writing process. I also completed a nearly 100 page honors thesis as a part of this course of study, honing these skills yet further.
With regards to creative writing, my experience is more self-taught, through careful study of literature through the years alongside my own personal creative writing projects. I have successfully taught group-based creative writing courses here on Outschool as well! Here it is more a matter of passion for the discipline!Reseñas
