Class Experience: In this 5-day Minecraft Summer Coding Camp, students will embark on an exciting adventure where they will learn essential coding and game design skills while building interactive Minecraft projects. This class is designed to engage young learners and spark their creativity as they work on hands-on coding challenges within the Minecraft world. What will be taught? Students will learn the basics of coding and basic game design through the creation of various Minecraft projects. They will build a climate alert system, a scoring system, a quiz game, and a thrilling treasure hunt. What topics will you cover? Introduction to coding with Minecraft Building interactive systems (e.g., climate alerts) Designing games within Minecraft (e.g., quiz games, treasure hunts) How is your class structured? Each day of the camp will consist of a 1-hour interactive coding session where students will be guided step-by-step through creating their own projects. The structure focuses on building one project per day, allowing students to apply their new coding skills immediately. How will you teach? I will use a mix of live demonstrations, screen sharing, and interactive discussions to teach students. The class will be taught using Minecraft Education Edition, with students coding and testing their projects in real-time. We will offer personalized guidance and support throughout each session. How much will learners get to interact with you? Learners will actively interact with me throughout the class as they code their projects. I will provide step-by-step instructions, answer questions, and give feedback on their progress. There will also be opportunities for group discussions, Q&A sessions, and peer sharing of projects. Topics Schedule for the whole week: ⇢ Day 1 of the week: Create glowing mobs that follow you around, lighting up your world! ⇢ Day 2 of the week: Build a system that warns you about weather changes, just like a real meteorologist! ⇢ Day 3 of the week: Design your own scoring system to track achievements and compete with friends! ⇢ Day 4 of the week: Develop a fun quiz game to test your knowledge and challenge others! ⇢ Day 5 of the week: Create a thrilling treasure hunt adventure for players to enjoy!

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I have extensive experience teaching block-based coding, particularly using platforms like Microsoft MakeCode, which is the foundation of this Minecraft coding course. Over the years, I have taught students in Grades 4-8 how to use block-based coding to create interactive projects, build games, and solve problems. My expertise lies in simplifying complex concepts through a visual, hands-on approach that allows students to understand coding logic while having fun.
I have worked with children for over five years in various educational settings, including after-school programs, summer camps, and online classes. My teaching style emphasizes creativity and problem-solving, ensuring students learn coding concepts while creating projects like light-following mobs, quiz games, and more, all within the Minecraft environment.
This course is specifically designed around Microsoft MakeCode, which uses block-based coding to help students build Minecraft projects. I will guide students step-by-step through the process, making coding accessible and enjoyable for beginners, while fostering skills that will serve them in future programming endeavors.
