Class Experience

Is your child full of ideas and imagination? In this self-paced writing course, learners will turn their creative thinking into structured, clear writing as they invent and describe their own imaginary invention!

Through guided mini-lessons, engaging video instruction, and interactive writing activities, students will practice writing four types of paragraphs:

•	An introduction paragraph that hooks the reader

•	A descriptive paragraph that shows what the invention looks and feels like

•	A process paragraph that explains how it works

•	A persuasive paragraph that convinces others to try it

Along the way, learners will build confidence in organizing their ideas, using transition words, improving sentence fluency, and tailoring their writing for an audience.

This course is ideal for learners who enjoy storytelling, tinkering with ideas, or who are ready to strengthen their nonfiction and expository writing skills in a playful and purposeful way.

✍️ No previous invention or writing experience needed—just imagination and a willingness to try!

✨ Meet Your Writing Instructor
I’m a STEM-educated, award-winning writing instructor with a biology and a law degree and extensive experience teaching nonfiction writing, critical thinking, and storytelling to students in both online and traditional classroom settings. With a passion for bridging science and writing, I help students develop clear, structured, and compelling writing—whether they’re explaining an invention, crafting persuasive arguments, or breaking down complex ideas into engaging content.

📚 WHAT I BRING TO THIS WRITING COURSE:

🔬 Science Meets Storytelling
With a background in biology (molecular and organismic biology), I love helping students transform logical thinking into engaging writing. Whether describing how an invention works or making a case for why people need it, we’ll focus on precision, clarity, and impact.

✍️ Mastering Nonfiction & Expository Writing
In this course, we’ll develop essential nonfiction writing skills—structuring paragraphs, using transition words for logical flow, and crafting persuasive arguments. You’ll learn to organize ideas clearly and communicate like an innovator.

💡 Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving Through Writing
Strong writing is more than just words—it’s about thinking deeply, organizing ideas logically, and making your readers believe in your vision. We’ll refine your ability to explain, persuade, and write with purpose.

🚀 A Hands-On, Engaging Approach
Writing about inventions isn’t just about theory—it’s about problem-solving, innovation, and real-world applications. I create interactive, structured lessons designed to help students build confidence in their nonfiction writing skills while making the process fun and exciting!
