Class Experience

Students will introduce themselves when they enter the classroom. Ramon loved to draw, until one day when his brother made a reckless remark to him. Luckily for Ramon, his younger sister helped him find the joy in art again. She hangs up all of his crumpled up artwork and tells him his vase looks "vase-ISH" and his tree looked "tree-ISH." As they listen to the story, students will discuss what Ramon is drawing and how he feels throughout the story. After the story, students will draw 4 "ish" pictures on paper and share them with the group. Students will each have a chance to share. As a group, we will discuss their drawings and feelings students experienced while listening to the story. They will be asked questions such as why they chose the colors and images they did.

Learning Goals

Students will learn that there is something far more valuable than getting things just "right."
