Looking to beat the summer reading slide? According to an NWEA study, students on average lose 20% of their previous school year’s reading gains over the summer. Do not let your child slide this summer! Have them join a Weekly Summer Reading Program: An Ongoing Class for Third Grade Readers. Led by a certified reading specialist, we’ll practice and further the third grade skills they learned this school year. Welcome!
I am passionate about instilling a love of reading in children through sharing engaging, high interest texts. The classes I teach are literacy based, and I also offer reading assessments to help parents have a better understanding of their child's reading level and strategies to support them.
I have ten years teaching experience at the elementary level and my Masters in Reading Education from UVA and am certified to teach readers from K-12. I ran the CETA (Changing Education through the Arts) program by the Kennedy Center, at my school and find great value in arts integration.
I believe children should feel that they are valued members of a class in order to do their best learning. Classes should be engaging, interactive and social, especially in a virtual format.
I have two little guys at home and we love to bake, go on nature walks, and we just learned about Geocaching! Oh, and I'm a Penn Stater at heart- We Are!
