Valentine's Day Geometry: Graph a Picture using Points (Coordinates)
In this one time class students will learn all about the history of the Cartesian Plane (Coordinate Plane) and how to graph points on this two dimensional plane.

In this one time class students will learn the history of the Cartesian Plane (also known as the Coordinate Plane) and the French born mathematician and philosopher Rene Descartes who is credited with inventing this four quadrant system of graphing. Students will practice graphing points using the x-axis and y-axis. They will also work on a Coordinate Graph picture that can be completed after class. Students will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout class. Lessons are taught using google slides and a document camera. Note taking is encouraged. Students will have a small amount of work to complete outside of class. More work to reinforce a lesson can/may be given if an individual student needs extra practice. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Other Details
Supply List
Bring paper, pencil and colored pencils or crayons to class so that you can take notes. A coordinate graph "connect the dots" picture will also be available to print out one hour before class. We will begin work the coordinate graphing picture during class and it can be completed after class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I attended Louisiana State University and graduated with a Bachelors in Music Performance and attended the University of Central Florida and graduated with a Masters in Business Administration. I am a musician, a teacher and a business owner. I play the oboe, teach private music lessons and play in many ensembles including the Indian River Pops Orchestra, the Academy Orchestra, the New Gardens Band and the Treasure Coast Wind Ensemble. I also love mathematics and I am a retired math teacher who was certified in Mathematics Grades 6-12. I live with my husband, our son and our pet dog.
