Class Experience

In this class, students will be taught how to subtract 2-digit and 3-digit numbers with regrouping. I will cover the necessary steps to line up all appropriate place values in each number using lined paper. This strategy will help learners in order to begin the subtraction process. I will cover a vocabulary portion on what it means to "regroup" or "borrow." Finally, I will cover how we can check our subtraction problems using addition.

My class is structured with a with a welcome introduction activity, then a lesson on the topic providing student opportunity, followed by giving student time for independent practice. After appropriate time has been given for independent practice, we will collectively discuss our steps to answering each question together.

Learners will get to collaborate with myself, as well as other students in the class. Student opportunity will be provided throughout the duration of this class. My teaching style allows my classes to be "student-driven" in order for my learners to explore and think about what he or she notices. Learners will be able to interact through slides, video clips, and discussions. Learners should have a basic understanding of subtraction when signing up for this class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Ms. Marangelli (Ms. M. for short)! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Literacy. I have a passion for all things teaching and learning! I consider myself to be a life-long learner. I am always looking for new ways to enhance my teaching. I have been teaching in a public school in New York for about 4 years now and I am so glad to bring my expertise to Outschool.

All of my classes will be correlated with Elementary Education subjects. This includes, but not limited to, reading, writing, math, social studies, and science. I aspire to have students fall in love with learning and to grow with their creativity; this all begins with the teacher. I focus on creating a positive and safe cultural environment for all of my students, regardless of the subject being taught. I encourage student involvement through collaboration, choice and promoting a growth mindset.

I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
