In the short, one time class, learners will have fun crafting a verbal story together as a group. This class is great for any student who needs some fun to start learning how to create stories creatively. In this class, we will be speaking only and working together as a group, there is no writing requirement or commitment. Each learner will randomly choose from a selection of pre-created characters, places or objects and go in round-robin style to add one sentence to the story. The teacher will transcribe the story as the students create the story. At the end of class, the teacher will read the story aloud to the students to show off their hard work!
Learning Goals
My goal is for students to enjoy the act of storytelling. For the reluctant writer, storytelling aloud is a great introduction to learning how to tell a story. Additionally, students will learn to work together as a team, take turns and think creatively on their feet.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Maryland Teaching Certificate in English/Language Arts
As the mother of a reluctant writer, I've found that it isn't that he doesn't enjoy stories or storytelling, it is the act of writing. Removing the pressure from writing to learn how to tell a story can allow a reluctant learner to get started. I've used this process in my own family many times and it is very fun!
