In this fun multidisciplinary class, students develop leadership skills while becoming familiar with the history, philosophy and technology of the first 3 Star Trek series as they learn about their impact on NASA and popular culture.

Class Experience

Students will learn to appreciate the historical and technological contexts and evolution of the first three Star Trek shows and the impact they made on NASA and the world.
Students will develop new critical thinking skills and real life problem solving skills.
Students will become more creative in their application of STEAM and space history.
Students will develop self confidence and public speaking skills.
Some brief video clips will be assigned for viewing.
I encourage students to make short presentations. Students will receive verbal feedback throughout the class and we will do some fun quizzes.
55 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
I have an extensive collection of Star Trek and NASA materials.
