Spanish Club for Kindergarten and Early Elementary (K-2) - Beginning Spanish

We will learn beginning Spanish in this 9 week ongoing class. You can join at any time. As long as interest remains high, I will continue to add sessions. It is NOT a prerequisite for you to complete previous classes. Jump in at any time.

Class Experience

We will learn beginning Spanish in this ongoing class.  You can join at any time. 
Week 1 - we will practice colors and numbers in Spanish. We will do exercises when I roll a dice with a certain number. We will also do a color scavenger hunt. We will also practice basic math in Spanish. We will count by 5's and 10's in Spanish.
Week 2 - The goal will be to learn how to say several animals in Spanish.  The students will also learn how to say which animal is their favorite, and if they have a pet. We will sing Old MacDonald had a farm in Spanish. We will also learn to say what we can do or cannot do as we do a song with animal movements.
Week 3- we will learn ocean animals in Spanish. We will also read a book about the beach, and we will sing Baby Shark in Spanish.  We will learn to talk about our favorite ocean animals.
Week 4 - The students will learn some basics foods and drinks in Spanish.  They will learn to say I like to eat/drink _______. They will also learn how to say I am hungry. We will sing a song called Tengo Hambre. We will also sing a fun song called "Te gusta helado?"
Week 5- we will continue with the food unit. We will play restaurant, and we will sing the jugo de naranja song. We will also sing another te gusta song.
Week 6 - We will learn the ABC's in Spanish with a song.  Then, they will race to find something  that starts with a letter that I draw out of all of the letters.  We will encourage them to find things that start with that letter in Spanish.  We will learn a few vocabulary words for key letters.
Week 7 - in this class we will practice shapes in Spanish. We will do a shape scavenger hunt. We will also read a book called shapes for lunch. We will sing a shape song as well.
Week 8 - We will learn family members in Spanish.  We will practice saying who is in our family. For this class students can bring a picture of their family to learn to tell about. We will sing a song called "Tengo una familia grande en una casa pequena".
Week 9 - We will learn many different emotions in Spanish. We will sing the Como estas song. We will have fun with emojis. In this class we will also learn body parts. We will sing head, shoulders, knees, and toes in Spanish. We will have fun building a monster and a potatoe head while using the body parts we have learned in Spanish.

I have a degree in elementary education and a minor in Spanish.  I have taught kindergarten through 8th grade.  I taught 4th and 8th grade Spanish as well as being a normal classroom teacher. I love early elementary and I love Spanish, so this class is my happy place!  I also have lived in a few Spanish speaking countries.
