In this introductory course, students will meet weekly to begin to learn Greek through conversations and actions. Aside from the inherent beauty in the language itself, students will learn that there's something in Greek for everybody. Greek makes students better at history, English, science, and even math!

Beginner Level
Students will continually practice their spoken Greek, and as a result they will learn the language more naturally. We will continually repeat old material while we learn new. We will start through basic commands, and then from there learn to describe our actions in the first, second, and third person. We will build each new theme for two weeks while repeating the old themes. Our activities will involve some instruction with note-taking, and from there transition to conversational practice,...
Having studied Ancient Greek on the graduate level, I have tutored clients in it the last five years. Despite often being taught as a dead language, I have helped students bring Ancient Greek to life through learning to converse in real time and interact with a text as an ordinary language.
Homework Offered
Students will learn 1) How to navigate Greek in a basic conversational sense 2) How to distinguish between indicative and imperative verbs 3) Expand understanding of English vocabulary and grammar.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
