This workshop will start with a quick class review and a teacher introduction. Then, all students will introduce themselves, stating their first name, grade, age, and state. This workshop will be divided into daily “Look, Listen, and Learn (LL&L)” sections that last from two to ten minutes. The LL&L is a visual/audio presentation about the STEM concepts discussed during the class or pictures of the build. Students will construct a Basic Concepts Project in the first and maybe the last class. This project will consist of students building multiple circuits using a breadboard, LEDs, photocell, resistors, potentiometer, and wires, plus they will stripe a wire to attach a simple motor. The basic concepts project is an easy project to help students learn problem-solving and help them to start using their critical thinking skills. In addition, students will gain some confidence in their constructing ability upon completing this project. Students will learn how to code a robot online using VexRobotics - vr.vex.com ============================================================================================== This workshop will start with a quick class review and a teacher introduction. After the basic concept project, students will construct their main project Ozkar the vacuum Robot. Ozkar is an excellent robot build; however, students may have to connect wires to motors. Each day students will spend 10 to 15 minutes learning how to code a robot online using VexRobotics - vr.vex.com ============================================================================================== Class 1: Coding 10 minutes - Introduction of students (Name, Grade, and State or Country) 5 minutes - What will be covered each day 30 minutes - Blockly code on an online site that manipulates an online VEX robot. 5 minutes - Review STEM Coding Homework Class 2: Coding 10 minutes- Review Homework 35 minutes- They will use Blockly coding to build a square, a square using a Pen sensor, and a square using a loop. 10 minutes - Review STEM Coding Homework Class 3: Electronics – Basic Concepts 5 minutes - Students will briefly review the lesson using an online document (LLL). 30 minutes - Students will learn by constructing (learning by doing) various circuits using wires, light, battery, motor, and switch. The teacher will explain concepts as students build each circuit. 5 minutes - Review Homework 10 minutes - They will use a magnet to pick up the metal disk 5 minutes - Review STEM Coding Homework Class 4: 5 minutes - Students will briefly review the lesson using an online document (LLL). 30 minutes - Students will learn by constructing (learning by doing) various circuits using wires, light, battery, motor, and switch. The teacher will explain concepts as students build each circuit. 5 minutes - Review Homework 10 minutes - They will use a magnet to pick up metal disks using the DownEye sensor 5 minutes - Review STEM Coding Homework Class 5: 5 minutes - Students will briefly review the lesson using an online document (LLL). 30 minutes - Students will learn by constructing (learning by doing) various circuits using wires, light, battery, motor, and switch. The teacher will explain concepts as students build each circuit. 5 minutes - Review Homework 10 minutes - They will use a magnet to pick up metal disks in a more complex playground 5 minutes - Review STEM Coding Homework Class 6: 5 minutes - Students will briefly review the lesson using an online document (LLL). 30 minutes - Students will learn by constructing (learning by doing) various circuits using wires, light, battery, motor, and switch.
