Titanic Escape Room #1 ***You do not need to have played the other RMS Titanic escape rooms to enroll in this game. Each escape room will have different clues/story.*** You purchased a ticket aboard the "unsinkable" Titanic in 1912. You are excited to travel on the luxurious ship to New York across the Atlantic Ocean. You consider yourself lucky you’re the Titanic's maiden voyage. You are getting ready to head to your room after a long dinner, when all of a sudden, one of the crewmembers shouts: "Iceberg ahead!" Robert Hichens was at the helm that night and quickly tries to avoid the iceberg at the last second. You can hear passengers screaming. Some passengers were screaming, while others dismissed the shaking of the ship. The ship has stopped moving altogether. You exit your quarter and look in front of the ship. A huge iceberg has brought the Titanic to an abrupt stop. The crew approaches you. "This doesn’t look good, there must be something wrong in the boiler room," he says. "I’ll go check on the engine room to make sure that we can restart the ship. In the meantime, follow my instructions." And with those words, the crew leaves the bridge. You have a short amount of time to solve this puzzle to save as many passengers as you can! In this class, students will use their problem-solving skills to solve the clues/riddles to escape the sinking of the RMS Titanic. As always in my class, students will communicate and work together with respect and understanding that each of us has a different level of Titanic knowledge. This class will be a little different, in that each team will have a team "presenter" who will share their screen with the escape room clues. I will rotate between teams to ensure that each team has the support that they need. All of the questions/clues/riddles will be related to the RMS Titanic. The length of the class will vary depending on how fast you can escape the sinking of the RMS Titanic. Please note, that there will be math word problems involving elapsed time or addition equations based on the facts provided. Please arrive on time for this class, as we will go over team introductions and instructions on how to play the game.
