Description

Class Experience



This semester long class will include grammar, literature, and writing.  I will describe the class below by taking a look at each subject individually.  This class will meet for 12 weeks.  I plan to teach grammar on Mondays, literature on Wednesdays, and writing on Fridays.  That being said, my lesson plans inertwine all the subject areas.  For example, when we write our fairy tale one of our steps in editing will be to find all of our nouns and then "explode" them by adding adjectives to...

Handouts will be provided for each class as well as homework to do in between classes.
Each student will need:
2 composition books
glue
scissors
pens/pencils
markers
a copy of Charlotte's Web
a copy of My Father's Dragon
** a copy of Fantastic Mr. Fox.  I am still putting the finishing touches on all of my lesson plans.  I may find that we will not have time for Fantastic Mr. Fox, although I hope that we will!  You may want to hold off on purchasing this book until I have made my final adjustments to the lesson plans.  Also, once I meet all of my students, I may determine that adding a third book would be too much for them.

2 hours 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
