For families looking for an engaging story time with social activities involved, come join in for Read and Color! Each session will include a story, discussion, and a related coloring page. As I read, Learners can color the provided page (or their own on the same topic). Discussion about the story will occur before, during and after the story, as we explore various reading topics. We will enjoy discussing characters, theme, plot, and connecting the books with our lives, as well as the world around us. We of course will share our coloring creations with each other, and practice our complimenting skills. I hope that this class can be a relaxing way to enjoy stories with friends!
Learning Goals
Each session will focus on a different comprehension skill, including character traits, plot lines and themes, and text connections.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome Learners! My name is Mrs. Ellsworth and I would love to have some sessions with you. I enjoy teaching a variety of subjects, but my favorites are social studies topics (such as American History) and elementary literature. My "secret" favorite subject is math. What does that mean? When I was a kid, math was very difficult for me! I struggled with almost every concept, and thought I would never get it. One year I had an excellent teacher who took the time to make sure I understood. That year was a turning point for me! Not only did math make sense, but I was learning to enjoy the relationship between numbers, and how every problem was really a puzzle waiting to be solved. Now I enjoy giving that same experience to students!
I am committed to the development of the whole child. I value the importance of authentic literary experiences, and meaningful connections between content areas. I enjoy trying new approaches to teaching and learning, and am dedicated to finding the best fit for each student. Respect, structure, and constant encouragement are of high priority in my classroom and sessions.
