You will have the opportunity to learn different ways of generating ideas as well as exploring what innovation means. There is space for 9 children aged 11-13 to join the sessions, which is led by one of our experienced and inspirational Role Models. Our Role Models are energetic, engaging, and curious educators who are passionate about encouraging you to become the best version of yourself. All of our Role Models are hand-picked and trained by our education team...
These sessions not designed just for children who struggle with creativity, problem solving and independent thinking; we believe everyone should be developing this important life skill. Your child may already have a great imagination but perhaps needs to develop their independence or their resilience when problem solving. Working creatively with others throughout the week can help boost general self-confidence and your child’s perception of their own creative potential. The course is a great way for children to explore being outside of their comfort zone within a fun and supportive environment. What are the benefits of these sessions? - Enhanced future job prospects: World Economic Forum ‘Future of Jobs Report’ (http://www3.weforum.org/docs/WEF_Future_of_Jobs_2020.pdf) consistently cites life skills as the most critical skills for the workplace. - Increased academic attainment: Numerous scientific papers identify the correlation between happiness and academic attainment - Improved mental health, particularly during a global pandemic
Our Role Models (teachers) are energetic, engaging, and curious educators who are passionate about encouraging your children to become the best version of themselves. All of our Role Models are hand-picked and trained by our education team. You can read about them here; https://www.rolemodels.me/about-us/meet-our-role-models/ In order to become a Role Model, they must have ample experience working with groups of children. They must also be adept at combining educational rigour with fun, to create active learning environments that children love. We have a number of qualified teachers and actors on our team. However, each Role Model brings something unique to the table. Meet Louise Treherne our Director of our Character Education Team: Louise develops new and exciting ways to help children explore our four key areas of collaboration, resilience, creativity and leadership, in order to be the best version of themselves. Louise has a degree in Psychology, 12 years experience as a teacher and 5 years as a Senior Deputy Head at a London Prep school. She now works as a Coach and Educational Consultant, which includes working in different educational settings, delivering training and staying up to date with all things Character Education related! Through her coaching, Louise works 1:1 with adults and children to help them move forward with specific goals, explore limiting beliefs and develop their direction and confidence.
Each session includes access to additional exciting activities for your child to do independently at any point during their day/week. Each of these is designed to be a fun distraction from what is going on around them. These activity sheets will be added to the classroom page by our Role Model along with a summary of the content shared during the online session each day.
Please make sure your child has paper and a pen, pencil and a range of felt tips/crayons.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parents will receive a post session email – this email summarises what your child covered so you can discuss this with them. It will also include a 'Top tip' from from Louise Treherne, our Director of Character Education.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Our content is suitable for students aged 11-13. Our courses are not designed just for children who struggle with creativity, problem solving and independent thinking; we believe everyone should be developing this important life skill. Therefore they are not intended to be a therapy class.
