#### What's included

###### 60 live meetings

45 in-class hours###### Homework

2-4 hours per week. There will be an assignment for every lesson covered. The assignment is intended for learner practice and an answer key will be provided.###### Assessment

If a grade is requested in the class it will be based on unit assessments.###### Grading

Grades by request and will require the learner to complete all unit assessments.#### Class Experience

###### US Grade 9

This class is intended for students that would like to complete the entire Algebra 1 curriculum in an abbreviated period. Students enrolling in this class must be proficient in solving multi-step equations and all Pre-Algebra skills, willing to work hard and motivated to learn. Students completing the entire course will be ready to move onto Geometry and Algebra 2. This is a teacher lead, interactive class; I will present the lesson and we will practice together. My goal is to build a classroom community where students are comfortable asking questions and commenting as I believe this drives the learning for the whole cohort. The topics covered: Writing and Graphing Linear Equations - These two weeks will be devoted to using the coordinate plane to represent linear functions, methods of graphing linear functions, best fit lines and linear modeling, we will be writing linear equations from graphs, tables and word problems; we will explore point slope form, slope intercept form and standard form; and we will learn about parallel and perpendicular lines. Solving and Graphing Linear Inequalities - We will learn about the properties of inequality, solve multi-step and compound inequalities, we will solve absolute value equations and write and graph linear inequalities. Week of June 18th. Systems of Equations and Inequalities - In this unit we will explore a variety of ways to solve a system of equations or inequalities and special types of systems. Exponents and Exponential Functions - We will cover properties of exponents, define zero as an exponent and negative exponents and study exponential growth and decay functions. Polynomials and Factoring - In this unit we will add, subtract, and multiply polynomials. We will factor polynomials and look at special patterns with polynomials. Quadratic Equations and Functions - We will begin with graphing quadratic equations, identifying how the coefficients affect the graph, we will learn about standard form and vertex form of a quadratic equation. Then we will transition into solving quadratic equations learning a number of methods and when to use each one. We will end by solving systems of quadratic equations.
