In these Pre-Algebra lessons students will explore topics to get them ready for Algebra I and beyond.

Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8

Pre-Algebra is the bridge between Elementary math and Algebra.  These lessons build the foundation of basic arithmetic skills and introduce algebraic concepts to students.  Each lesson follows the National Course Standards for Pre-Algebra.  

This Pre-Algebra class will meet for two 45 minutes sessions each week and students will be given homework after each class.  This class is "ongoing" which means that students can join for the entire 36 weeks or come and join us for specific topics as...

This course prepares students to be mathematically literate as well as prepare them for Algebra I and future math classes.

Homework and practice problems will be given each week.

Paper, pencil, crayons or colored pencils.  I will also send worksheets and other materials out to students as needed.
A headset or headphones with microphone (earbuds also work) helps to cut down on background noise and makes it easier for students to participate in class discussions.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Because of the small class size, it is possible to assess students during class to determine competency.  If a student needs extra help they may be given some extra math resources they will need to complete before the next class.

1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
