Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
This is a basic addition math class. In this class we will practice 1 digit subtraction (5-3, 9-5).

This class is meant to be relaxed and stress FREE. I want the students to have fun learning and build a love for math. We will use fun characters and colorful slides to help us have fun and encourage students to talk.

In this class we will practice subtraction using manipulatives, drawing pictures, and counting down.

Each class we will start off using manipulatives. We will then draw the pictures to subtract and last we will count down or count up. Counting down is when you start and one number and count down to get the answer. For example 4-3, you would start at 4 and say 3,2,1 and 1 would be your answer. Counting up would be starting at the 3 and seeing how many "jumps" it would take to get to 4.

Class 1: Greeting ( What is your favorite color?), Count our manipulatives together backward from 20-1 (Students will need 20 items), Use our manipulatives to subtract 1 digit minus 1 digit, Use our paper and pencil to draw pictures to subtract ( we will draw things like lines, circles, etc), at the end we will practice counting down from a number to 0. Last we will practice subtraction by counting down or counting up.

Class 2: Greeting ( What is your favorite animal?), Count our manipulatives together backward from 20-1 (Students will need 20 items), Use our manipulatives to subtract 1 digit minus 1 digit, Use our paper and pencil to draw pictures to subtract ( we will draw things like lines, circles, etc), at the end we will practice counting down from a number to 0. Last we will practice subtraction by counting down or counting up.

Class 3:Greeting ( What is your favorite toy?),Count our manipulatives together backward from 20-1 (Students will need 20 items), Use our manipulatives to subtract 1 digit minus 1 digit, Use our paper and pencil to draw pictures to subtract ( we will draw things like lines, circles, etc), at the end we will practice counting down from a number to 0. Last we will practice subtraction by counting down or counting up.

Class 4:Greeting ( What did you do today?), Count our manipulatives together backward from 20-1 (Students will need 20 items), Use our manipulatives to subtract 1 digit minus 1 digit, Use our paper and pencil to draw pictures to subtract ( we will draw things like lines, circles, etc), at the end we will practice counting down from a number to 0. Last we will practice subtraction by counting down or counting up.

Class 5:Greeting ( How old are you? When is your birthday?), Count our manipulatives together backward from 20-1 (Students will need 20 items), Use our manipulatives to subtract 1 digit minus 1 digit, Use our paper and pencil to draw pictures to subtract ( we will draw things like lines, circles, etc), at the end we will practice counting down from a number to 0. Last we will practice subtraction by counting down or counting up.
