Teacher Leroy Smith has 11 years of experience as a licensed special education teacher. He holds Master of Education degrees in Elementary Education (Grades 1 through 6) and Special Education (Grades PreK through 12) for students with mild-to-moderate disabilities. He taught mathematics to bilingual learners for 5 years at a dual language immersion school who have math related disabilities. During this tenure as a special education classroom teacher, he helped students improve their mathematical performance by an average of 2 years in one school year. Teacher Leroy Smith has organized and led professional development sessions for teachers on implementing evidence-based strategies to support learners who struggle with mathematics and math anxiety from diverse backgrounds and ability levels.
