Students will learn how to use the R.A.C.E writing strategy to clearly and effectively answer open ended questions about any text type or literature. This includes short stories, poems and literary text that form part of the English and Language Arts curriculum. Through the use of discussion, cooperative learning, questioning and active engagement, participants will quickly learn to R.A.C.E in this one time session. Students will model the strategy during a live demonstration as they go through each step of the R.A.C..E strategy sequentially using teacher-made paragraph and story based worksheets.
Students in elementary and early middle school will learn how to answer open ended questions on any genre of literature competently and comfortably using the R.A.C.E model. .Note pad, book or any suitable writing device, along with a writing tool.

I am Gerard Hall, and I possess over a decade of national and international teaching experience in diverse settings, working with an array of learners from K-12 to the collegiate level. Along with my experience, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a Masterās degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology. Currently, I am pursuing doctoral studies in education.
I believe that every student possesses the capacity to learn if given the opportunity. It is with this mindset of inclusivity that I strive to create lessons that are exciting, engaging, and student-centered. In my classroom, I seek to activate my studentsā curiosity and sharpen their critical thinking skills. Above all else, I encourage students to have fun while learning.
