Multiplication Camp - Conceptual Understanding Method, No More Memorizing!

In this 12 week course, we will be learning our multiplication facts in a effectual order that is NOT learning their facts starting with 1's, then 2's, then 3's and so on.  We will be learning our facts in a natural order that will help with learning their facts.  The goal here is to obtain strategies so they can use their background knowledge of one fact to get the answer of another.  Eventually, with practice and repetitions (at school),  students will know their facts immediately but that takes learning strategies and CONCEPTUALLY understanding how numbers work with each other.  These strategies will not only help your child learn their facts 
but they can solve bigger problems as well. 

Along with working numbers, we will be working with our vocabulary as well.  Vocabulary is very important and also will be a foundation to when they get into middle school math.  

The only experience my students need is to be able to add and to skip count fluently (easily).  Skip counting their 2's, 5's, and 10's specifically.  I will be using that knowledge so they can conceptually understand what we are multiplying.

For their work, I will have pages that students can download or they can use notebook paper.  This is not tedious work so we will have short 30 minute lessons to not overwhelm their brain and retain their focus and a second meeting to really practice and put their new strategies in their long term memory.
