"Mixed, a Colorful Story" : Kid Art Lit

Hello!  I'm excited to be a part of this teaching community!  I teach art classes and host read alouds online. Some of my favorite classes are when I teach an art project that uses a picture book for inspiration!

I've been teaching students as a K-8 art teacher, school librarian, reading teacher, and classroom teacher, (in that order)  for over 25 years in public and private school settings. Two years ago I opened an art studio for kids for afterschool art and summer camps.   I am constantly inspired by the creativity, joy, and imagination of children.  

Whereas creativity can't actually be taught, my goal is to be the springboard for creativity. I expose students to a variety of mediums, techniques, and fundamentals of art. Artists are encouraged to express themselves freely while making their creations. 

I have three, almost fully grown kids, a husband and a dog.   In addition to loving kid art and kid books, I have a real soft spot for snow, gardening, organizing, harmonica solos, whippy songs, and dark chocolate.
