Class Experience
US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
**This is a flex class so there are no live lessons during this course.** Let's learn Math! When learning math at a young age, it's best through lots of visual stimuli. During this four-week flex class, students will become confident at subtracting numbers between 1 and 20. Students will be taught different ways in which they can subtract. We will cover: - number recognition and counting 1-10 - what does subtraction mean -use of a variety of manipulatives to represent a given amount -how to use a 10frame -how to use a number line -how to use an abacus -how to use string beads -counting down from a given number Each week students will be able to review pre-recorded videos they can follow along with either their own manipulatives or printables provided. New lessons will be shared each Mondays in the classroom along with a Nearpod link to practice. Math resources such as an abacas and number line will be provided through a Boomcard link. On each Thursday, a challenge will be set for students to complete and upload their work to the classroom for other students to comment on. During the first week, we will recap number recognition and counting. We will then focus on how to use manipulatives to represent a given number. Students will be given a number to each represent with their choice of manipulatives at home to share with fellow students. We will then move onto learning to use different aids to help us subtract amounts from 1-10. These include 10frame, an abacus, string beads, and number lines. During weeks 3 and 4 we then move on subtracting up to 20. Each week, students will be taught via visual and engaging videos. Students will each be given their own sums for them to create and share in the classroom with their peers. Students will also be given 1-20 flashcards and be asked to provide their peers with their own sums using a 2digit and 1 digit number. Nearpod activities will be provided every week to practice and reinforce each week's learning objective.

Thank you.**
Hello, it's lovely to meet you! I'm Catherine, a qualified primary teacher and home educator from the UK.
I am incredibly passionate about encouraging the next generation to be proactive with conservation and protecting our planet. You'll see many of my classes are themed around my love for animals, endangered species, habitats, and conservation.
Young students care deeply about our world, are enthusiastic and keen to learn about sustaining our planet. My classes are aimed mostly at 4-6 or 5-7-year-olds for this very reason.
As a qualified primary school teacher and ESL teacher, outside of my animal-themed classes, I also offer a range of fun, activity-led classes focused on phonics, book clubs, early math, and ESL.
Outside of teaching, I love nothing more than spending time in nature with my family. I have two children, 6 and 4, whom I home educate with my husband. We spend as much time as possible visiting nature reserves, local wildlife parks, and hiking with our dog. My DSLR camera is always on hand to capture the incredible sights we see, from migrating birds in winter to summer-blooming flowers.
Nature and the world around us is a huge part of our life. With my classes, I help young learners with a passion for our incredible world, by answering their questions, providing cross-curricular activities, and extending their prior knowledge.
My live lessons are often discussion-based within a relaxed and friendly environment where everyone has the opportunity to participate. Flex classes offer learners an opportunity to study the content at a pace or time zone that suits them. Due to them being no live lessons, these classes are jam-packed full of cross-curricular activities for students to enjoy and share with their peers.
Interested in finding out more?! GREAT!
Come along and join one of my classes below. I cannot wait to meet you.
